“The New Beginning” [Unreleased Song]

SHOW SUPPORT

Thank you Terror for hitting me up to write a little something for your new website while you guys are holding it down during Quarantine. Road dogs like you all must be going really stir crazy.  A hard working band that tours more than most! Scott you’re gonna come out this wild for your first show back. Hope it gets captured on video! Release the beast!

So the point of this write up is to revisit a B-Side off of the “Live By The Code” album. And I totally Forgot about this song and it all came back immediately. Such a catchy jam! I remember it now clearly being one of my favorites but I lost the battle and it didn’t make the cut. One of the reasons I loved it so much is how it has a lot of character. There’s no doubt Terror can flawlessly write a 2 minute long classic Hxc ass beater but where I find their Shinning moments in the records I’ve recorded with them is when they can take influences from other elements of punk and early hardcore and make them their own.  Really expanding their musical walls. This song, I think lyrically was very relevant at the time. Live shows really started doing well again which ignited a reunion trend. Terror never took a break and the lyrics were a great expression of frustration about being in the trenches, believing in the message, keeping it going and then others jumping in when it’s safe to snag their 15 seconds. I personally am not judging that. If people want to play a show with their band they can do it whenever they want for whatever reason they want. However if this song was in fact released on Live By The Code it would have sparked some fire in a lot of people and I think caused lots of debates and discussions on people’s intentions when it came to reunions. Would have been very relevant at the time.

I’m forever grateful for the memorable moments and fun experiences I had producing Terror. Keepers of the Faith & Live By The Code! From recording gang vocals at the Chain Reaction to the friends and hangs in the back alley of Buzzbomb studios. I will say I did not love how hot Nick Jetts garage was where we recorded Live By The Code.  That I could have done without!
