SHOW SUPPORT

I’ve helped out Terror many times over the years… From directing videos, loaning them gear, creating intros for their live sets, and more. I even let them borrow a few guitars when they were recording “One With the Underdogs” (although I don’t think they ended up being used on the record). Anyway, Scott approached me about making a mixtape for Terror that was kind of like a “greatest hits” of their songs at the time that they could give away to kids at shows and at their merch table. Of course I was down to make it happen!

I was producing a lot of hip hop stuff at the time, and was working with DJ Muggs (Soul Assassins / Cypress Hill) on a music project as well, so the idea was to make a hardcore version of a classic hip hop mixtape.

The mixtape starts with an intro that I had previously made for a Terror tour… Scott had an idea of a West Coast style Hip Hop intro… I had a beat that was previously on a mixtape that I released that actually had Freddie Gibbs on the original version… Anyway We took the beat and DJ Quickiemart did the cuts… The track was mixed by Josh The Goon (RIP)… I thought it would be the perfect way to set the tone for the mixtape and really give it a hip hop feel… I created some interludes in between songs from movie samples and classic hip hop tracks,  and even added some cool stuff within the tracks to make them a bit different on the mixtape. I wanted every track to blend into the next.

Working at the studio with Muggs at the time, I pretty much just asked whoever was around to do a mixtape drop… I got drops from Muggs and Meyhem Lauren (who was in town working on his record with Muggs at the time), Freddie Gibbs called and left a crazy answering machine message also coordinated with Josh The Goon… Scott coordinated the drops from the legendary DJ Premier, as well as Vinnie Paz, and a crazy track by the one and only Skam Dust!

I just listened back to this mixtape for the first time in a very long time… I hope you guys think it is as cool as I do!
